Area 51: From Goggles to "Foggles."

You may have seen the new story of Area 51 staff - when in certain, sensitive portions of the base - having to wear vision-limiting goggles. They have quickly become known in the media as "foggles."

At a couple of websites the story is being viewed as unlikely or as a hoax, but that's not the case at all. How do I know that? Because I was telling the story as far back as 2006 - and publishing on it, too.

That was when I got the story of the goggles/foggles from a then-retired man who had worked at Area 51 in the early 1970s. And now, thirteen years after he shared what he knew, that man's claims are vindicated.

Here's my story of Area 51's foggles...

Reviewing "The Lake Michigan Mothman"

There's a new book out now on Mothman. The author is Tobias Wayland. Its title: The Lake Michigan Mothman: High Strangeness in the Midwest. I've reviewed it at Mysterious Universe, and this is how the review begins...

The Lake Michigan Mothman: High Strangeness in the Midwest is a new book from Tobias Wayland. The blurb for the book reads as follows: "This book represents over two years of research by a dedicated team of investigators who have taken dozens of reports of a weird, winged humanoid seen around Lake Michigan. Author and investigator Tobias Wayland has collected these reports for the first time in one volume, along with his analysis and insider perspective as a member of the investigative team. The phenomena described within represent the continuation of a decades-long series of events first recorded in Point Pleasant, West Virginia, in the late '60s, but that has likely been with humanity since our advent, and seems just as likely to be with us until our end."

With that said, onto the review. Before I get to the actual story, though, I should stress that this is a very well-written book. It is filled with atmosphere, menace, intrigue and mystery. Of course, for a story that revolves around the Mothman phenomenon, it has to be readable and a definitive page-turner. It is. There are a few nods here and there in the direction of H.P. Lovecraft. For example, the words "gibbous" and "moon" (together, of course) pop up now and again, but there's nothing wrong with that. In fact, it adds to what is an undeniably weird story. One of the reasons why I was looking forward to reading The Lake Michigan Mothman was because to a fair degree the story parallels some of the accounts that Lon Strickler detailed in his 2017 book, Mothman Dynasty: Chicago's Winged Humanoids.

And here's where you can find the article.

Contactees, Space Brothers and More...

"Long before there were Alien Abductees, there were the Contactees. They were the people chosen to spread the word by what became known as the "Space Brothers." The "word" meaning: peace, love and understanding. In other words, the aliens were here to help us - provided we followed their slightly bullying agenda. While reports of - and encounters with - these very human-looking, long-haired, jumpsuit-wearing aliens were at their height in the 1950s, reports predated that era and still occasionally surface. The Space Brothers would target people in isolated locations - very often desert environments in the United States - and encourage them to share their experiences, write books, and go on the lecture circuit. So many of these people did exactly that. They included George Adamski, Dana Howard, Howard Menger, George Hunt Williamson, and Orfeo Angelucci. Much has written about the Contactees, but there is one glaring issue that is so often omitted. Or, even, unknown to so many."

That's how one of my recent article begins. It focuses on a lesser known and intriguing aspect of many of the Contactee cases...

Kenneth Arnold's Changing Opinions on What UFOs Were

Over at Mysterious Universe there's a new article from me on Kenneth Arnold, the guy who practically created the UFO phenomenon in the summer of 1947. It's a little-known fact, however, that by the start of the 1960s Arnold's views on UFOs had significantly changed. By then, he had discarded the extraterrestrial theory and came to believe that UFOs were living creatures themselves; large jellyfish-type beings that soared around the highest levels of the Earth's atmosphere. You can find the article here...

My "Library..."

There must be something in the air. In the past 10 days or so, 3 people have asked me what my "library" looks like. Well, I don't have a library. For me to say I have a library sounds totally like pretentious, self-important crap. What I have are a bunch of bookshelves I bought from the local "Big Lots" store and which do me very well. For me, a library is where you borrow books, or where someone gets murdered in some old black and white "whodunnit" movie from the 1940s LOL. Let's keep things in perspective!

Men in Black and Demonic Possession

That's the subject of a new article from me, which starts as follows:

"Last week I received a lengthy, rambling series of messages from a guy in Salt Lake City, Utah that – when I finally got around to copy-pasting and formatting it all – amounted to eleven pages in single-spaced Word. I won’t detail the whole story, since it would take an entire batch of articles to do that. Sam (which is his real name) is a twenty-something who has never seen a UFO, has never been abducted by ETs, and has never had a particular interest in the subjects of UFOs and alien life. For a while, however, he did dabble in the occult, which may very well have led to what occurred just a few months back. Here’s the story: Sam found himself in a very weird situation that began in late August of this year, and that he claims is still going on. On the first night of weirdness, he woke up, around 5:00 a.m. in a state of complete confusion on his bed, rather than in it. Sam had had an extremely strange 'nightmare' of having been placed into a state of what he called 'mind control' a couple of hours earlier, which would have put the time it all began around 3:00 a.m. In that same nightmare, Sam got out of bed, dressed, and exited his apartment. But that’s not all: when he dressed, it was not in his regular, casual clothes. Rather, it was in a black suit, which he put on without giving it a thought. I should stress he doesn’t own a black suit."

And here's where you can find the whole article...

More on the Black Helicopters

Here is the link to the article I wrote a couple of days ago on the weird "Black Helicopter" experience I had back in 2018 (with a couple more images added). It will give you more of an idea of what went on...

Two More Articles From Me On UFOs And Computer-Hacking

Here's how one  begins:

"My previous article – on Gary McKinnon and his disastrous attempts, in the early 2000s, to try and find the U.S. government’s UFO secrets by hacking NASA – demonstrated one thing, more than any other. Namely, that such activity provokes massive media coverage. It was big news in both the United States and the U.K. There was similar such media coverage (chiefly in the U.K., though) when a Welshman named Matthew Bevan did something near-identical in the 1990s. Just like McKinnon, Bevan ended up in big trouble. In 1997, Bevan found himself arrested and in court. Luckily for Bevan – and just as was the case with Gary McKinnon, too – he walked free when the court-case collapsed. Although these two examples of “Hacking for UFOs” are without doubt the most well-known ones, they certainly are not the only ones. In many respects, the example I’m going to share with you today is even more intriguing than that of Bevan and McKinnon combined."

And here's how the other begins:

As I have written two articles in the last couple of days on the connections between UFOs and computer-systems (and, primarily, on the subject of computer-hacking), I thought I would go ahead and turn it all into a 3-part article. Collectively, it serves to demonstrate the strange nature of this very controversial aspect of the UFO subject. My first article of this “trio” was on the controversial matter of Gary McKinnon and his most unwise hacking of NASA in the early 2000s. The second feature was on the equally weird affair of alleged alien autopsies, NBC, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, and, of course, hacking. As for this third and final article on this topic, it will focus on other aspects of the UFO-computer subject, but not ignoring the hacking issue. We will begin with an account from the late UFO researcher Leonard Stringfield, who died in 1994. His research primarily revolved around the “crashed UFO” angle. We’re talking about the Roswell controversy of 1947 and similar alleged incidents. In the summer of 1978 Stringfield was able to speak with a U.S. Army source that Stringfield referred to only as “J.K.,” Stringfield’s informant revealed a great deal about crashed UFOs, dead aliens, and autopsies of extraterrestrials. And, there was more, too.

Keeping Files To An Absolute Minimum...

I've just been reading this new article on Stan Friedman's gigantic research files covering his entire time in the UFO field.

Fortunately, when it's time for me to be dumped 6-foot-underground (or torched) there won't be that problem of having a bunch of people go thru all my files and try and figure where the hell to store it all.

The reason is simple: there are no files. None.

All of my research (or at least, I guess, 95 percent of it, or thereabouts) ends up in my books. And as I have written more than sixty books, that means just about all my research, interviews, files, etc is inside the pages of those books.

So (and this is the important thing) my books and my files are really one and the same, but in 2 different formats.

And, when the research for each book is over and done with I then destroy the original raw material, purely to ensure I have enough living space in my apartment.

As I see it, there's no point keeping thousands and thousands of pages of old, yellowing, fading papers, interview notes, Q&A audio recordings, etc when it's almost 100 percent duplicated inside the books. There is very, very little of my material and research that isn't in my books. And that which isn't in the books is for the most part not worth keeping anyway.

And I can do without a bunch of filing cabinets too! Not one can be found in my apartment, which is just how it should be.

Some people might be appalled by my approach. But, I like my room-space and I don't need to keep decades-old material when, in book form, nearly all of it can be got on Amazon.

Gary McKinnon and Those "Non-Terrestrial Officers"

That's the subject of my new article at Mysterious Universe, which begins as follows:

Gary McKinnon is someone that most people with a deep interest in UFOs will have heard of.  As I’m sure you will remember, he’s the guy who, in the early 2000s, chose to do something that was (A) extremely reckless; and (B) absolutely stupid. He did nothing less than hack into the systems of various agencies of the U.S. government. The purpose for this crazy decision? McKinnon felt that by doing so  he just might be able to find some of the government’s most classified data on UFOs and alien life. Well, it didn’t quite work out like that. In fact, McKinnon found himself plunged into the heart of what became an ever-growing nightmare. Author and journalist Jon Ronson said of McKinnon: “Basically, what Gary was looking for – and found time and again – were network administrators within high levels of the U.S. government and military establishments  who hadn’t bothered to give themselves passwords. That’s how he got in.”

Gerald Bull: A Strange Death

For those who may be interested, the FBI has just now declassified its files on a man named Gerald Bull. In case you don't know, he was a scientist who was assassinated in 1990 - under circumstances that are still not clear. The 66 pages that the FBI have declassified and placed on its website, The Vault, make for interesting reading - and particularly for anyone who might want to dig deeper into Bull's death.

You can find the file at this link.

The Supernatural Hazards of Being a Writer

That's the title of a new article from me at the Mysterious Universe website, and which you can find at this link. And here's how the article begins:

"Is it possible that writing on certain, supernatural subjects can result in you getting “hit” by the powers of paranormal entities? It might sound bizarre – crazy and even insane. The fact is, though, that such things have happened to me time and time again. Also to good friend David Weatherly, and specifically in relation to his research and writing in the field of the Black Eyed Children. And to another friend of mine, Buffy Clary, who got hit by lightning on two occasions while researching about, and reading on, the phenomenon of the Djinn. Even for an author like myself – someone who has written more than fifty books across slightly more than the last two decades – the publishing world can still present challenges. Very strange ones, as the opening lines of this article showed, and how things can get worse. Deadlines, edits, fact-checking, securing photographs to accompany the text, and planning publicity campaigns, can all be time-consuming at times. In the end, however, it’s all worth it, as I still have the enthusiasm for all things weird that I had when I was a kid. That said, there is another aspect to book-writing which can present the author with more than a few challenges. And, on more than a few occasions, those same challenges are steeped in menace and supernatural activity. At least, for me they are. Perhaps, for you, too."

Nightmares, Dreams and Unwanted Visitors

Today's article is on the subject of what can happen when "something" invades your nightmares.

Here are the opening paragraphs:

"If you want weird, you’ve got it. It didn’t get much more bizarre than Saturday morning, October 14, 2017. The night before, I gave a lecture in Fort Worth, Texas for a local group called Satori. It was a good turn-out and among those who turned up was good friend, Kimberly Rackley, who has had her very own run-ins with the Men in Black. During the lecture, I made mention of how certain supernatural things can invade our dreams – and, in the process, turn those same dreams into absolute, mind-warping nightmares. I guess someone – or something – was tuning in, as the following morning I received at Facebook Message a  strange tale of – wait for it – Men in Black and Women in Black who had invaded the dreams of the victims. No, I do not jest.

"The story came from a guy in Florida, and who I had spoken with some time earlier. In my 2016 book, Women in Black, I told the very strange story of 'A Hesitant Believer,' who had a chilling encounter with both a MIB and a WIB a few years earlier. It was a hostility-filled encounter, in which the clearly non-human pair in black put a hex on poor 'AHB,' one which left him extremely ill for a while. On this date in 2017, though, he wanted to tell me of a follow-up encounter, which was no less strange or unsettling."

January 2020: The Alien Snowfest

A gig I'll be speaking at in January, the Alien SnowFest at Big Bear Lake, California.

I'll be speaking on my recently published book, Flying Saucers from the Kremlin.

Plenty of time to plan!

Here are a few photos from last year's gig:

A Strange Dream and a Weird Man in Black

That's the subject of a new article from me, which you can find at this link, and that starts as follows:

"Today, I’m on a bit of a 'weird dream' kick. By that, I mean there will be another dream-based article after this one. John Winterbauer is a friend of mine who I run into about once a year or so at conferences. At 8:43 a.m. on November 21, 2015 John sent me a text – while clearly in a state of some concern – that revolved around the story of a woman named Terry, who I interviewed a few years back. Her MIB-themed encounter makes for chilling reading. In part, Terry had told me: 'This encounter occurred during the day time thirty five years ago in 1977 at a Winchell’s in Sunnyvale California, I was just sixteen years of age at the time. My best friend and I had just finished our coffee and were heading for the doorway to leave. As we were passing a man seated at one of the tables, he reached out and firmly grabbed my wrist. In that moment my first reaction was to jerk away from his grip, but looking down at him I realized that he was a very old man and I felt in that moment that he was harmless. He was dressed in black wearing an old fashioned hat and suit, his clothing looked like it was from the 1930’s. He was extremely pale, very thin and appeared to be very old, I guessed in his 80’s or 90’s.'

One Book, Two Covers

Now and again, when my books are in the pre-printing stage, me and the publisher will decide on what the cover should look like.

And sometimes, there might be a couple of very different ideas. That was how things went down with my 2018 book, The Black Diary.

It was published last year and covered such subjects as the Black Eyed Children, the Men in Black, the Women in Black, the Hat-Man, and the Shadow People. In other words, a bunch of supernatural creeps.

I like both covers, and we finally settled on the "hoody" cover, but I think the one that was never used - of a Shadow Man sitting in a cool old chair - is a good one too...

A New Book on Area 51

If you haven't had enough of the recent Area 51 controversy, Tim Beckley has a new book out on that very subject. Here's the publisher's info on the book:

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

EVERYTHING YOU HAVE EVER WANTED TO KNOW ABOUT AREA 51, DECAYING ALIEN BODIES AND EXOTIC, BACK ENGINEERED, AIRCRAFT. . . . BUT WERE TO SCARED TO ASK.

EXPOSING: WARP DRIVES, DARK ENERGY AND UNKNOWN DIMENSIONS!” IN THE DESERT. – AND FIND OUT ABOUT JOSHUA P. WARREN’S TIME WARP EXPERIENCE.

in the worse case scenario, what would happen if ten thousand or more citizens stormed the gates of Area 51? Would they be arrested or even shot? No trespassing signs monist the public to keep out at all costs – but for what reasons? As a “free nation” we have the right to know what the government and military is doing with our tax dollars. Certainly nothing could be that Top Secret – or could it be?
Insists one of the brightest engineers who has worked inside Area 51 : “Anything you can imagine we already know how to do!...We know how to travel to the stars!...The Air Force has give us a contract to take ET back home!...We have things in the Nevada desert that are alien to your way of thinking far beyond anything you see on Star Trek!”

The public wants to know – have high tech weapons and aircraft been back engineered at Area 51’s Groom late as part of an on going “secret space program? And are such craft being test flown there, side by side with the stored remains of extraterrestrials recovered in the Roswell UFO crash? Though Area 51 has existed since the late 1940s, it has in recent times become the focus of conspiracy theories due to its selectivity and connection to classified aircraft and atomic weapons research.
Conspiracies include: ** The storage, examination and reverse engineering of crashed alien spacecraft, including unknown materials recovered at Roswell and other places, the study of their occupants and the manufacture of vehicles that can travel vast distances in the blink of an eye. –
**Meetings and joint undertakings with Ets. – **The development of weather control. --** The development of time travel and teleportation technology. --**The existence of of a high speed intercontinental underground rail system connect secret bases all over the planet. --**The deployment of our own “Outer Space Troops” to protect the earth from interplanetary invaders, ala a real “Independence Day,” scenario.

Russia and the Majestic 12 Documents

Do I really think that the controversial Majestic 12 documents that kept so many UFO researchers busy in the 1980s, 1990s and 200s were the work of Russian Intelligence? Yes, I do.

That's the subject of several chapters in my recently-published book, Flying Saucers from the Kremlin.

Hakan Blomqvist Reviews "Flying Saucers from the Kremlin"

Hakan Blomqvist reviews my new book, Flying Saucers from the Kremlin.

He says of the book:

"Flying Saucers From the Kremlin is a fascinating survey of the strange world of UFOs, Cold War secrets and spies. Like a good detective Nick Redfern has a knack for discovering new dimensions to the UFO enigma and unearthing unknown documents. Reading his book makes it obvious that there is still much research needed before all the pieces in this confusing puzzle have been found."

My Home: Not a Creepy Castle or a Haunted House!

Probably because of the subjects I write about, people occasionally ask me if I live in some strange, old house of sinister proportions. Er...NO! LOL. It's a shame that I have to destroy the creepy image, but my compact apartment is pretty normal!

The picture in this post was taken in my living-room (which is also a part of the kitchen LOL) last year, when I was interviewed for a show.

M.I.B. TV...

For those who may want to watch, I'll be on Monsters and Mysteries in America, which will broadcast at 3PM tomorrow afternoon, central time, on the Travel Channel. The subject is the real Men in Black. It was originally broadcasted a couple of years ago, but is now getting a rerun, as are most of all the other episodes...

Robert Goerman Reviews "The Alien Book"

A great new review from Robert Goerman of my new book, The Alien Book.

The Alien Book: A Guide To Extraterrestrial Beings On Earth
by Nick Redfern
Paperback: 400 pages
Publisher: Visible Ink Press (September 1, 2019)
Review by Robert A. Goerman

Visible Ink Press caters a feast for the mind with The Alien Book: A Guide To Extraterrestrial Beings On Earth by Nick Redfern. Forty-four delicacies are alphabetically presented over the course of four hundred pages. Many entrees are plated beautifully with illustrations. Connoisseurs will appreciate the rich bibliographical references and index. Trust our colleagues at Visible Ink Press to deliver a banquet for the price of a good meal.
The beings, creatures, mysteries, et cetera in this book are indeed alien to the norm of our everyday lives and spatiotemporal reality. Whether they are actually extraterrestrial, that is, originating from some other physical world in our universe, will be a matter of conjecture and debate. Whatever they are, they are here. They are not going away today. Tomorrow doesn't look good either.
Every single entree is seasoned with Redfern's secret blend of horrifying herbs and sinister spices.
Do human crop circle makers attune to a higher intelligence? Sacred geometry and intent are two things that a magician or cabalist needs to create magic. Are these metaphysical artists working with large emblems on a living canvas to rediscover the ancient art of natural magic? Does this automatic drawing summon paranormal forces? Matthew Williams is convinced.
We completely agree with Nick Redfern that Men (and Women) in Black “are clearly not residents of our world.” We also agree with researcher Steve Ash when he wonders if these UFO Silencers with their alleged agenda to scare people away from the subject often have the opposite effect. Maybe the MiB mission is to purposefully highlight and “advertise” high strangeness. Are MiB the “teaser trailers” of the paranormal realm?
We ask ourselves if these MiB and WiB understand their own actions. Are the Men in Black at the mercy of something else? They can appear after a “sighting” or Active Paranormal Event before the witness has told anyone. They relate details known only to the witness. MiB manifestations can appear out of nowhere and vanish in plain sight as if they are inserted and extracted geographically and chronologically into and out of our reality.
Men in Black show signs of interacting with humans on both a physical and psychic level. The consciousness of the witness can be altered and manipulated during the encounter. Meeting the witness in person seems to be their primary goal and conversation appears to be of secondary importance. Maybe the intelligences behind the MiB manifestations are curious as to how lower lifeforms imprisoned by linear time exercise “free will” and make “choices.”
The variety of paranormal phenomena examined in this book is impressive. Redfern writes that “aliens come in all sizes, shapes, and colors. Some are friendly. Others are anything but friendly. They all have one thing in common: the human race has encountered them.”
Chasing UFOs and cryptids with nuts-and-bolts and flesh-and-blood mindsets might be a matter of “barking up the wrong tree.” Yet other researchers take these stands to appear more “scientific.”
While all forty-four entrees are delicious, we did find an occasional forkful that left us feeling frustrated. Redfern refers to Mothman's “glowing, self-illuminating red eyes.” This is certainly not his fault. Our basic knowledge of West Virginia's "Mothman" begins as flawed folklore thanks to author John Keel. The original eyewitness accounts state that the creature has “fiery-red eyes that glow when the lights hit it. There was no glowing about it until the lights hit it” (from Linda Scarberry's handwritten report made a few days after the encounter). “The young men said they saw the creature’s eyes, which glowed red, only when their lights shined on it” (from the Point Pleasant Register, Wednesday, November 16, 1966). Mothman today has evolved into weapons-grade “balonium.”
One thing is certain. Now is the best time to discover Nick Redfern.

My New Book, "The Alien Book," Available Now...

My new book, The Alien Book, is now available.

Here's the info from the publisher, Visible Ink Press:

Unmasking the mysteries of alien life on earth! Make mention of the word “alien” and it conjures images of black-eyed, large-headed, dwarfish beings that have come to be known as the Greys. Indeed, Greys have become a staple part of pop-culture, never mind just the field of UFO research. They’ve appeared in Steven Spielberg’s classic 1977 movie, Close Encounters of the Third Kind. They regularly popped up in The X-Files. And, of course, there are numerous people – all across the world – who claim to have been abducted by the Greys and subjected to intrusive medical experiments. Yet, before the 1950s, the Greys were nowhere in sight.

The Alien Book: A Guide to Extraterrestrial Beings on Earth shows that extraterrestrial life comes in all kinds, appearances, sizes, and bodies. They all have one thing in common, however: the human race has encountered them, and we continue to do so today. Not just dozens, or even hundreds, but thousands of eyewitness experiences have been reported. Covering hundreds of extraterrestrial life forms in more than 40 thematic chapters, this absorbing look at the mysteries of aliens on earth includes …

  • the Space Brothers: long-haired, very human-looking ETs
  • the fiendish Reptilians: seven-to-eight-foot-tall predatory shapeshifters
  • Men in Black beings: extremely pale-skinned, tall, and with huge eyes
  • Black-eyed Children: anemic-looking kids and possible ET-human hybrids
  • Bigfoot
  • the werewolf-like Dogmen
  • jellyfish-style aliens that soar around the skies of our world
  • the Shadow People: dangerous humanoids that terrorize people
  • legendary Nephilim
  • space-vampires: insect-like aliens that resemble a giant praying mantis
  • and many, many more!
The Alien Book investigates the full range of sentient, alien life forms. Some are benign and others downright deadly. Some are small, like a germ or virus that has NASA, creating guidelines to deal with an outbreak of an extraterrestrial germ. Some are big like a giant praying mantis or the biblical Goliath. They all lurk on Earth and in this chilling book!
With more than 120 photos and graphics, this tome is richly illustrated. Its helpful bibliography and extensive index add to its usefulness.

    Copyright Infringement...

Despite what some people think, writing books does not make you a millionaire. Which brings me to what I'm about to say now. Check out this website (link below) which has infringed my copyright by placing a number of my books at their site as PDFs and making them available for free, and which I found out about yesterday.

As well as being a passion and something I love doing, this is also my job, I'm not a fucking charity, and this action potentially affects my ability to earn royalties from those copies which are copyright infringed and being provided free.

If you are an author/writer I recommend you check out the site, as there are numerous books listed which are also now under copyright infringement.

The large list includes the books of good friend Greg Bishop, Richard Dolan, Philip Coppens, Graham Hancock. Jacques Vallee, Kevin Randle and it goes on and on.

Check it out and see if your books are up there as PDFs and being provided for free:

    Here's the link.

Robert Goerman does a great review of my new book: Flying Saucers from the Kremlin: UFOs, Russian Meddling, Soviet Spies & Cold War Secrets.

    Review by Robert A. Goerman

Some governments need enemies. There must be reasons for keeping vital secrets and building invincible armies. Enemies justify propaganda and deception. Nowhere was this more apparent than during the Cold War (1947-1991) between the United States of America and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. Humanity feared extinction from nuclear war. American schoolchildren practiced surviving atomic weapons by diving under their desks in futile "Duck and Cover" drills. Many countries constructed fallout shelters. The antics of America's CIA and Russia's KGB mirrored Mad magazine's "Spy vs. Spy" comic strip created by cartoonist Antonio Prohías.

Rich and powerful men avoid losing wealth and influence.

Flying Saucers from the Kremlin documents whether the USSR used the mythos of "flying saucers" to further the communist agenda and provoke hysteria and paranoia in the western world. It also explores the countermeasures of the United States and its allies. But this book is not a skeptical look at the UFO mystery. Nick Redfern begins with an important disclaimer: "There are real UFOs and there are deliberately-crafted lies concerning UFOs."

Learning the cloak-and-dagger accounts in this book is important for readers eager to finally set the UFO record straight. Governments on both sides of this Cold War were not suppressing knowledge and evidence of extraterrestrial visits to Earth. These clandestine activities developed to perpetrate and prevent espionage and psychological warfare.

So-called "contactees" and flying saucer clubs were covertly scrutinized, infiltrated, and intimidated. Official records verifying these facts were not created as part of a disinformation culture by agents with the foresight to know that future citizens could examine classified materials using a Freedom of Information Act. Reports were composed to be pertinent to the attitudes, perceptions, and context of the relevant time periods. These documents are honest glimpses into our past.

It did not help that the "space people" loved communists and communism.

Have we been deliberately misled about many prominent UFO mysteries?

Nick Redfern is constantly blazing new trails to research. Flying Saucers from the Kremlin held my interest captive. Redfern is the hottest ticket in town.
