More on the Rendlesham Forest Controversy

Dave Clarke digs deep with a new article on the 40th anniversary of the Rendlesham Forest affair of December 1980. Here's the link. A very interesting article!

The Vermont Monster Guide

Back in 2009, I reviewed a then new book, The Vermont Monster Guide. Well, there's a recent, updated version available right now, and I'll be reviewing it soon.

And here's the info from the publisher:

"Though not widely acknowledged, the Green Mountain state is home to more winged wonders, wet weirdoes, and crypto creatures than any other state in the country. You probably know about Champ, the elusive monster of Lake Champlain. But what about Northfield's Pigman? And Richford's The Awful? Wherever you are in Vermont--in town or country, river or lake, land or sky--you're never far from the unknown. Or the unexpected.Joseph A. Citro, respected monster hunter, brings to light over sixty Vermonsters, many captured in exquisite, ghoulish detail by the pen, brush, and ink of artist Stephen R. Bissette. Designed as both a cautionary tale and handy field manual for those who dare, The Vermont Monster Guide will be of interest to natives and tourists, to young and old...though it may not be suitable for readers with fragile constitutions.WARNING: The Author, Illustrator and Publisher are NOT responsible for any unfortunate encounters that may result from the reading of this book."

About That New "Rendlesham Forest UFO" Book

If you are into UFOs in general and the Rendlesham Forest case of 1980 in particular, you are going to want the new book from John Burroughs, one of the key people in the incidents.

John's book will be available next week. You can find it here.

In the meantime, here's where's you can find my review of the book.

A New Book on the Rendlesham Forest Affair: Coming Very Soon!

A couple of weeks ago, John Burroughs very generously gave me a copy of his forthcoming book on the Rendlesham Forest incident of December 1980. The book is going to open a lot of eyes!! Secret experiments, government programs, weirdness in the woods and much more! Its title Weaponisation of an Unidentified Aerial Phenomenon. I'll be doing a big review soon...

"The Martians" - Three Number 1's

https://www.amazon.com/Martians-Evidence-Life-Red-Planet/dp/1632651769/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=nick+redfern&qid=1603409376&s=books&sr=1-1

Still Vaping!

Well, I never thought I would see a bunch of new songs from The Vapors! Most people remember them for "Turning Japanese." But, their first album, "New Clear Days," is packed with great, guitar-driven, singalong, new-wave songs. "Their best (in my opinion) from that album: "News at Ten."

I didn't realize the guys were really young when "Turning Japanese" hit the stores. Anyway, they've been back for a while, but they now have 12 new songs. And, amazingly, Dave Fenton's voice is exactly the same as it was! Not to be missed!

Weird questions on the Radio...

I did a pre-record radio show / interview this morning on my new book, The Martians which turned out to be more about music, and specifically about my favorite band, the Ramones.

Then, for some odd reasons, the host asked if I had kids. I said "No, I do not have kids." They are hassles, pains in the neck, and get in the way, particularly at the weekends.

And that's why I had a vasectomy in my early 30s (I know: too much information LOL). That way, there's zero chance of someone knocking on the door 9 months later with some screaming brat in their arms 🙂

But if I did have kids they would have to be named Johnny and Ramona. What else could it be? 🙂

"The Martians" on CD...

Coming very soon is a boxed CD version of my new book, The Martians. Here's the info on the guy (David Bendena) who is doing the job that I would not have the patience to do: read the whole book out loud for the recording! Thanks, David!

"David Bendena is an actor and a musician based in the Midwest. His theatre experience over the past twenty years has taken him to stages throughout Chicago, Kansas City, and Michigan. He is very proud to be a member of the Actors Equity Association and to be a Resident Artist with the Purple Rose Theatre Company."

Whitley Strieber and "The Martians"

A good endorsement for my new book, The Martians from Whitley Strieber...

The Martians opens a door into a possibility that most would reject as impossible. But Nick Redfern in this provocative and exciting book makes a startling case for there being life on Mars—and, in fact, for the whole history of Mars being very, very different from what we have supposed. A wonderful adventure and a very exciting story!”—Whitley Strieber, #1 New York Times bestselling author, Communion

"The Martians" - A Summary of the Book

The publicity info for my new book, The Martians: Evidence of Life on the Red Planet (Red Wheel/ Weiser, LLC): it reads like this...

The Martians is an in-depth study of the theory that Mars was once a world that teemed with life. Perhaps, even, life not too dissimilar to ours. Incredibly, the Martians may still be there. Alive. The questions that this book asks and answers include the following: • What kind of society did the Martians have? • What caused their world to become harsh and desert-like? • Did global warming or nuclear war ensure the extinction of the Martians? • Are Martian artifacts strewn about the surface, just waiting to be found by the likes of NASA? • Has NASA already found such evidence, but chosen to withhold such monumental finds from the public and the media? • Could some form of the Martians still exist, deeply below the surface of the planet, in secure installations that allow them to ensure their civilization continues? • What do we know about the Martian environment, its atmosphere, and its landscape? The Martians explores the CIA's top-secret search for the Martians, multiple photos of strange anomalies, and the latest revelations about the environment and water on Mars. And most tantalizing of all: Did an ailing Martian race come to Earth in past eons and were they confused with gods? The questions concerning life on Mars?then and now?are many. The answers are astounding.

RIP, Scott Marlowe, Cryptozoologist

Sad news about the passing of Scott Marlowe, Cryptozoologist. Scott was a cool, good guy. He will be missed and my thoughts are with his family and friends. Here's a photo from the Mothman gig in 2016 at Point Pleasant, with (Left to right) Denise Faye, Ken Gerhard, Scott's son, and Scott himself. A great evening. RIP, mate.

Good Memories!

The passing of Diana Rigg made me think of another great actress who is no longer with us anymore, Ingrid Pitt - who was not only super hot but also a very cool woman. I know that, because I met her once, in 1998.

I was promoting my first book A Covert Agenda in London and she was promoting her then new book too: Ingrid Pitt's Bedside Companion for Vampire Lovers, which is a far better title than my book! LOL! I think we were on the James Whale radio show, but I may be wrong.

Anyway, I got to hang out in the green-room with Ingrid, who was very chatty, flirty, laid back and great fun. We had about 20 minutes talking about those old Hammer films she was in, and the 1973 original of The Wicker Man. Great memories! 🙂

Richey Edwards: When a Rock Star Goes Missing...and Stays Missing

There's a new article from me titled "Rock Star Richey Manic and His Mysterious 1995 Disappearance: A Book Reviewed." And here's how it begins:

"Sara Hawys Roberts’ Withdrawn Traces is, without a doubt, one of the best, and most absorbing, books I’ve read in a very long time. It tells the story of a man born Richard James Edwards in Pontypool, South Wales in 1967. In the 1990s Richard became famous as both Richey Edwards and Richey Manic. He was one quarter of one of Wales’ most successful rock bands, The Manic Street Preachers. In 1995, things changed. That’s when – depending on your own perspective – Richey took his life or carefully staged a suicide and made a new life for himself. Either way, he vanished. Since then, numerous words have been written about Richey. Withdrawn Traces sets the record straight. And, not only that, the book has the support of Richey’s sister, Rachel. The band has been in existence since 1986, now as a trio. As you might guess, over a period of more than thirty years their guitar-driven music has gone through a few changes and styles. For me, their biggest and best moment was the 1992 album, Generation Terrorists. Imagine a combination of The Sex Pistols, The Clash, maybe a bit of Hanoi Rocks, and the Michael Monroe band, and you’ll get the picture."

Monsters of the Deep: My New Book, August 4

On August 4, my new book, Monsters of the Deep, will be published. If you're a fan of Cryptozoology, check it out!

And here's the info from the publisher, Visible Ink Press:

A deep dive into the undersea netherworld of sea serpents, lake monsters, surviving dinosaurs, genetically altered mutants, and legendary aquatic creatures.
Water takes up 70 percent of Earth’s surface, with countless lakes, rivers, ponds, streams, seas and oceans covering much of the land, but what lurks beneath the water? For centuries, sightings have been made of huge, marauding monsters swimming the world’s oceans and lakes. They include Scotland’s legendary Loch Ness Monster; the United States’ equivalent, Champ, of Lake Champlain; and Canada’s long-necked denizen of the deep known as Ogopogo. These, and many more, famous monsters of the world below us also include giant squid, massive octopi, and even the fabled Kraken and the fabled mermaids of millennia long-gone. Possibly, too, there survive populations of marine reptiles that were assumed to have gone extinct millions of years ago, in the Jurassic period, such as the plesiosaur.

Whether scaly or slithery, massive prehistoric dinosaurs or mutant serpents, Monsters of the Deep catalogs nearly 100 accounts of eels, alligators, reptiles, giant squids, snakes, worms, deadly fish, and cold-blooded creatures of all manner and ilk. It reveals the astonishing extent to which lake monsters and sea serpents have surfaced throughout history to terrify, perplex, and amaze those who have crossed paths with these monsters of the unknown.

Master storyteller, established author, and respected expert on the unexplained and paranormal Nick Redfern sifts through the historical record, first-person accounts, and unearthed government files on lake monsters and sea serpents to tell of encounters with a variety of beasts, including ...

  • Cheever Felch’s 19th-century account of the massive Gloucester, New England, Sea Serpent
  • The brontosaurus-like Mokele-Mbembe of the Congo
  • The supernatural Bunyip, a monster that lurks within the creeks, lagoons, and swamps of Australia that has been known to the Aboriginal people for centuries
  • The disputed claims of Teddy May, former Commissioner of Sewers in New York, of alligators roaming the sewers of the city
  • The monster-sized fish in the River Nene, in the Fens, Cambridgeshire, England
  • Modern mutants genetically altered by pollution
  • And many more!
This richly researched reference overflows with fascinating information to make you think about―and reconsider―dipping your toes into water. With more than 120 photos and graphics, this tome is nicely illustrated. Monsters of the Deep also includes a helpful bibliography and an extensive index, adding to its usefulness.

Sinister Swamps: The New Book From Lyle Blackburn

Check out the new book from my good mate, Lyle Blackburn: Sinister Swamps: Monsters and Mysteries from the Mire. As the publicity for the book states:

"When it comes to iconic landscapes, nothing can rival the ominous allure of a swamp. Within these haunting domains of moss-draped trees and brackish waters lurks some of nature’s finest work, along with some of the most compelling mysteries and spooky legends the world has ever known. From reports of unknown beasts, ghostly figures, and spook lights to tales of missing persons, lost planes, and witches, swamps inevitably ooze with intrigue as they offer a glimpse into a primordial past that may well reflect our very origin. For the last decade, noted author and adventurer Lyle Blackburn has delved into the world of swamps, collecting reports of strange phenomena and boating through their bubbling backwaters to seek the truth behind the fascinating tales. Do monsters, ghosts, and other bizarre entities truly exist in these unique and primitive regions? Find out by joining Blackburn's eerie exploration as he parts the mossy curtains to expose the sinister secrets within some of North America’s most notorious swamplands."

Not to be missed! I'll be doing a full review as soon as I've finished reading it.

    The Hazards of Ufology Part-1

Over at Mysterious Universe, I have a new article on the above-subject: The hazards of Ufology. It begins as follows:

Back in 2016, I wrote an article here at Mysterious Universe titled “UFOs: Don’t Let Them Rule Your Life.” To a significant degree, the article was focused on the controversial “11:11 phenomenon” and a guy who was immersed in it to such a degree that he was practically controlled by it. You can find the article at this link. That same article provoked a fair amount of comments, something that didn’t surprise me at all. Today, I thought I would expand on this issue of how people really do become affected by the UFO subject – and not in a positive way. I don’t know why, but on more than a few occasions I have seen people enter Ufology sane, rational and normal, only to eventually plunge into states of paranoia, fear, isolation and eccentricity. So, in that sense, today’s article is very much a warning to one and all. I should stress that this radical change of character doesn’t happen to a huge degree (as far as I can tell). On more than a few occasions, however, I have seen something close to madness set in – and sometimes set in quickly. With that all said, let us now take a look at the first of three examples of how the UFO subject – at times – doesn’t just alter lives, but can come close to destroying lives, too.

Ray Boeche and the Rendlesham Forest Affair...

Great praise for my new book, The Rendlesham Forest UFO Conspiracy, from Ray Boeche. Ray was one of the early US researchers of the case back in the 1980s. And he's someone I interviewed extensively for my book.

A Hot Hooker, a Faked Alien Abduction, and a UFO Event That Was a Hoax

That's the subject of my latest article. It starts like this:

Today, things get very controversial: Antonio Villas Boas was a young Brazilian man who claimed to have had crazy sex, in late 1957, with a wild babe from another world. That is, after having been abducted and practically thrown into a UFO. The story, however, may not have been all it seemed to be. In fact, it may have been something even stranger. It was in the final years of the 1970s that UFO researcher Rich Reynolds engaged in correspondence with a man by the name of Bosco Nedelcovic. He - Nedelcovic - had secret connections to the domain of espionage and intelligence, and spent time working in South America. Nedelcovic asserted that the Villas Boas incident was far from being what it seemed to be. He told Rich something incredible: that Villas Boas was nothing less than the unwitting player in a new and bizarre experiment. Nedelcovic explained: the UFO that Villas Boas saw over his family’s property was actually a helicopter. Not only that, Villas Boas was supposedly hit by something mind-altering that quickly placed him into an altered state, after the pilot of the helicopter flew right over him and at a low level. As for the girl from the stars, she was said to have really been a hooker, a girl hired to take Villas Boas on the closest encounter of all. But, said Nedelcovic, it was all a ruse: a mind-bending event designed to fabricate a UFO incident.

Withdrawn Traces: Richey Manic and his Mysterious Disappearance

If, like me, you're a fan of the Welsh band, the Manic Street Preachers, you'll want to read this book: Withdrawn Traces: Searching for the Truth About Richey Manic. It's one of the best books I've read in a long time (I finished it last week). And I'll soon be reviewing it.

Here's the publisher's info on the book:

    • On 1 February 1995, Richey Edwards, guitarist of the Manic Street Preachers, went missing at the age of 27. On the eve of a promotional trip to America, he vanished from his London hotel room, his car later discovered near the Severn Bridge, a notorious suicide spot.
    • Over two decades later, Richey’s disappearance remains one of the most moving, mysterious and unresolved episodes in recent pop culture history.
    • For those with a basic grasp of the facts, Richey's suicide seems obvious and undeniable. However, a closer investigation of his actions in the weeks and months before his disappearance just don’t add up, and until now few have dared to ask the important questions.
    • Withdrawn Traces is the first book written with the co-operation of the Edwards family, testimony from Richey’s closest friends and unprecedented and exclusive access to Richey’s personal archive.
In a compelling real-time narrative, the authors examine fresh evidence, uncover overlooked details, profile Richey's state of mind, and brings us closer than ever before to the truth.

My New Rendlesham Forest Book: "Even more disturbing than could be imagined"

At Mysterious Universe, Aaron Wright says:

"This year marks the 40th anniversary of the Rendlesham Forest incident and the frightening events surrounding that night remain enshrouded in a fog of mystery. Nick Redfern however has a new theory on what occurred and its refreshingly compelling while being even more disturbing than could be imagined."

    For more, click here...

    And here...

The Rendlesham Forest UFO Conspiracy: My New Book, Available Now

Over the years, I've written a number of controversial books, but my new one (available from today) is without doubt the most controversial of all. Its title: The Rendlesham Forest UFO Conspiracy: A Close Encounter Exposed as a Top Secret Government Experiment. Here's the link:

    https://www.amazon.com/dp/1945962283/ref=sr_1_3…

Here's the info on the book from the publisher, Lisa Hagan Books...

    • "The object was hovering on legs”
    • “Something being tested in the area”
    • “A world of trouble”
    • “Minds were manipulated”

In the final days of December 1980, strange encounters and bizarre incidents occurred in the heart of Rendlesham Forest, Suffolk, England. Based upon their personal encounters, many of the military personnel who were present at the time believed that something extraterrestrial came down in those dark woods. What if, however, there was another explanation for what happened four decades ago?
What if that explanation, if revealed, proved to be even more controversial than the theory that aliens arrived from a faraway world? The ramifications for the field of Ufology would be immense.

In his new, sensational book, Nick Redfern reveals that one of the most famous UFO cases of all time was really a series of top secret experiments using holograms, mind-control programs, deception, disinformation, conspiracies and cover-ups. The shocking truth of a forty-year-old mystery is now revealed.

    BIO
Nick Redfern is the author of more than 60 books. They include Flying Saucers from the Kremlin; The Roswell UFO Conspiracy; Women in Black; Men in Black; Nessie; Chupacabra Road Trip; The Black Diary; and 365 Days of UFOs. Nick has appeared on many TV shows, including the National Geographic Channel’s Paranatural; the SyFy Channel’s Proof Positive; and the Travel Channel’s In Search of Monsters.

    Storms Around the Dallas Area!

This is what I was woken up by this morning around 5:00 AM: a major storm, thunder, lightning etc. As my car doesn't have a covered area at the apartment blocks, I was sure the car was fucked. But, luckily, I got away. Not seen hail like that size here for a long time!

The Two Types of Men in Black: One Human and One Non-Human

Over at Rich Reynolds' blog - UFO Conjectures - you can find a new article from me. It is focused on the two different kinds of Men in Black that people report.

There are those MIB who look like agents of government, and there are those who are pale-faced, cadaverous creatures that don't even look fully human. But, both of them dress in similar - if not identical - clothing.

Why and how do we have more than one type of MIB? You can find the answer at this link.

    Heading For Trouble...?

    The Chupacabra: A 25th "Anniversary"

That's the subject of my new article. It starts like this:

"So far as can be determined, the menacing Chupacabra first surfaced in March 1995, twenty-five years ago. That was when numerous animals – mainly goats – were found dead in the towns of Morovis (located in central Puerto Rico) and Orocovis, which is situated within the La Cordillera Central mountain range. Locals were plunged into states of near-hysteria by the attacks, which reportedly left animals dead, with strange marks on their necks, and a distinct lack of blood in their corpses. At least, that was the rumor. Since many of the early attacks were on goats, the term, “Chupacabra,” was created. It translates as “goat-sucker.” Matters really began in August 1995. That was when a woman named Madelyne Tolentino – who lived in Canovanas, which is close to the northeast coast of Puerto Rico – changed everything. Madelyne’s description of the creature she encountered, close to her mother’s home, was disturbing, to say the very least. It was a description eagerly embraced by the island’s media and by investigators of monsters and mysteries."

My book on the Puerto Rican monster - Chupacabra Road Trip - is available at Amazon.

And here's the publisher's info on the book:

Beware of the Deadly Chupacabra! Between 2004 and 2015, Nick Redfern spent months in Puerto Rico, in search of the legendary Chupacabra – alleged to be a blood-sucking, vampire-like beast with blazing red eyes and bat-like wings. While pursuing the lethal predator, Nick explored the depths of Puerto Rico’s vast El Yunque rain-forest and its extensive caves. He interviewed farmers, police-officers, veterinarians, and military personnel – all of who shared with Nick their astounding accounts of confrontations with the monsters.

Highlights of Chupacabra Road Trip include: • The UFO links to the Chupacabra • Theories that the creature has supernatural origins • Tales of farm animals drained of blood by the monster • Government conspiracies and the Chupacabra • Sightings of the creatures in Texas, South America, and Russia

    My New Book: Assassinations

Available now is my new book, Assassinations: The Plots, Politics and Powers Behind History-Changing Murders.

    FROM THE PUBLISHER:

A deep dive into high stakes killings, conspiracies and crimes! Ruthless killers and murderers for hire: they are here, there, and everywhere. They lurk in the shadows, ready to pounce. They terminate on command. And, in the process, they change the course of the world. They are among the world’s most cold-hearted, deadly, and emotionless figures. They are assassins, and they have a long history of grievous deeds.

From the cunning, calculating, government-trained warriors to the psychopathic, homegrown freelancers, you can find them all in Assassinations: The Plots, Politics, and Powers behind History-changing Murders. Exposed are the hidden agendas as well as the open warfare. The cynical preparations and devastating aftermaths are laid bare. You will quickly find yourself immersed in a world that is filled with killings made to seem like suicides, murders that were designed to look like heart attacks or overdoses, and accidents that, in reality, were carefully orchestrated deaths.

  • Did Lee Harvey Oswald really kill JFK? Or was Oswald the patsy he claimed to be?
  • Was Jack the Ripper, who terrified London in 1888, a madman or a ruthless secret agent of the British government?
  • Did the United States’ first secretary of defense, James Forrestal, kill himself, or was he thrown out of a window to his death in May 1949?
  • Did Marilyn Monroe take her own life in August 1962? Was a contract put out on her?
  • What led to the demise of Danny Casolaro, an investigative journalist who, at the time of his death in 1991, was investigating a powerful cabal known as “The Octopus”?
  • Was Diana, Princess of Wales, the victim of a car accident or of a carefully orchestrated plot?
  • Can sound waves and microwaves kill people at the flick of a switch?
  • Was John Lennon’s murder not at all what it appeared to be?
  • These questions and many more are answered in Assassinations, and with more than 120 photos and graphics, this tome is richly illustrated. Its helpful bibliography and extensive index add to its usefulness. It's a fascinating read that looks into how and why so many famous and influential figures just had to go!
