Men In Black - Worldwide

Over at Mysterious Universe I have a new article on the worldwide nature of the Men in Black. Here's the link, and here's how the article starts:

Brent Swancer’s recent feature on Men in Black in Japan has prompted me to write an article showing that the creepy and strange MIB are seen just about here, there and everywhere. In 2005, I spent a week or thereabouts in Puerto Rico. I was there with Paul Kimball’s Redstar Films crew. The subject of the shoot: the Chupacabra. While we were there, we met a number of interesting witnesses, including one guy who had encountered not just a Man in Black, but a Woman in Black too.

Late one night, some years earlier, he jumped out of bed to the screams of his pigs – he was a breeder and seller of the animals. And, given that this was his only source of income, he raced to the back-door, grabbed a handy machete and a flashlight, flung the door open, and charged out into the muggy darkness. The scene was one of carnage. The bodies of a number of dead, blood-splattered rabbits – which the farmer also kept – were strewn about the yard, many torn to pieces. And one of his prize-pigs was dead, too, lying on the ground.

Roswell Slides - Dead and Buried

Well, the biggest soap-opera since Dallas is now over.

The Roswell Slides are as a dead as the mummy that they show.

Certain heads should be hanging in shame. Whether they are, however, is another matter entirely.

I could go on and on about this scummy affair, but, frankly, I have better things to do with my time.

Instead, I'll refer you to what I consider to be the most relevant and important post-collapse articles.

Seeking the Chupacabra

A blast from the past! Paul Kimball of Red Star Films has posted footage of a trip we made to Puerto Rico in 2005, in search of the truth of the Chupacabra. This was the second of now many trips to Puerto Rico I've made in search of the creature, the most recent in 2013. And all of which will be discussed in my book, Chupacabra Road Trip, coming in September.

The Chupacabra: My Views

Back in late 2005, I traveled to Puerto Rico for a week with Paul Kimball (of Red Star Films). The purpose was to make a documentary titled Fields of Fear - which was on the subject of animal mutilations/cattle mutilations.

Paul has uploaded  to YouTube an interview that he did with me while we were on the island. Here it is, below. Time has flow, hard to believe it was almost a decade ago!

The Chaos Conundrum

The Chaos Conundrum - written by Aaron Gulyas - is a new book for which I have penned the foreword. It's a book I definitely recommend too, as it's definitively refreshing, original, alternative, outside of the box, and guaranteed to get up the collective noses of the closed-minded and the stuck-in-the-mud crowd - which are all very good reasons to buy it!

UFOs, Crop Circles, Exopolitics, Roswell, ghosts, conspiracies (and conspiracy-theorists) and much more all appear in The Chaos Conundrum.

And here's the blurb for the book (published by Paul Kimball's Redstar Books):

"In The Chaos Conundrum, historian Aaron John Gulyas examines how the paranormal has intersected and influenced our culture in myriad ways, from the conspiracy beliefs of William Cooper and Exopolitics to the challenge that the stories of Gray Barker presented to our concept of self and time. He looks at the maelstrom of personalities, agendas, impressions, data, confusion, and contradictions that can be found in the world of the weird, and demonstrates how they have become an integral part of our lives, whether in the form of flying saucers, hauntings, religious revelations, psychic abilities, or dozens of other guises. Gulyas delves into the stories of the people who have attempted to create order out of the chaos. Along the way he recounts his own journey from enthusiastic believer in the 'shadow government' and their underground bases to jaded academic skeptic, and then finally to someone who thinks there might just be something to the paranormal after all...but not what we have been led to expect or believe!"

A review will appear here soon...

Synchronicities and the Chupacabras

Over at Mysterious Universe, I have a new article that deals with a couple of strange synchronicities I had while involved in a Chupacabras hunt back in 2005, one focused upon the whole "MJ12" controversy.

The article begins as follows:

"It was late one night in the early summer of 2005 when good mate and Canadian filmmaker Paul Kimball, of Red Star Films, with who I had worked on a number of earlier projects, phoned me with a proposition.  His company, Paul explained, had just been commissioned by Canada’s Space Channel to make a documentary titled Fields of Fear, the subject of which would be animal/cattle mutilations. Part of the filming was to take place on the Chupacabras-infested island of Puerto Rico.

"Paul knew that I had been to Puerto Rico previously, that I had established good contacts and leads there, and that I had written about official, FBI files on animal mutilations in my 2003 book, Strange Secrets: Real Government Files on the Unknown.  As a result, Paul hired me as both a consultant to, and a participant in, the show. And so, I was soon airborne for the island of mystery, and my second excursion in search of the Chupacabras."

The Paranormal Podcast

You can find a new interview with me - on the subject of my Monster Diary book - at Jim Harold's Paranormal Podcast. But, that's not all: the link will also take you to a new interview with Paul Kimball, of Red Star Films and the author of The Other Side of Truth.

MIB, WIB, Monster

There's a new article from me at Mysterious Universe that focuses on one of the strangest stories to have come my way while searching for the Chupacabras on Puerto Rico.

Although I have now made a number of trips to the island, and uncovered a lot of weird tales, this one (told to me and Paul Kimball of Red Star Films in 2005) is very odd.

It starts like this:

"While the term 'Men in Black' is one that pretty much everyone understands – regardless of whether or not they have an interest in the UFO issue, conspiracy-theories, or Forteana in general – what about their female counterparts, the Women in Black, or WIB? Although reports are far more scarce, they do exist and are no less intriguing than the more well-known MIB. Indeed, back in 2005, I was caught up in the investigation of one such case…

"For years, sensational and sinister stories have surfaced from the forests and lowlands of Puerto Rico that tell of a strange and lethal creature roaming the landscape by night and day, while striking overwhelming terror into the hearts of the populace – which is not at all surprising since the animal has been described as having a pair of glowing red eyes, powerful, claw style hands, razor sharp teeth, a body not unlike that a monkey, a row of vicious spikes running down the length of its back, and occasionally, and of deep relevance to this particular chapter, a pair of large and leathery bat-like wings."

And here's the complete feature.

The Other Side Of Truth

Looking for a new book to buy? Well, here's one I definitely recommend: The Other Side of Truth, the first book from Paul Kimball of Red Star Films.

Now, before anyone moans, complains or gets on their high horse, yes, Paul is a good mate of mine. But, no, that does not have a bearing on the fact that I'm about to give the book a good review.

If I hated TOSoT, or thought it was deeply flawed, I'd say so, and I'm sure Paul would appreciate the honesty, even if he didn't agree with it. So, this is not some exercise to massage Paul's ego or to do a mate a favor. And if you were thinking of making such an observation, keep your gob shut.

With that said, let's press on.

I approached the reading of Paul's book with a great deal of interest for a couple of reasons: one being that it's his first book, and that in itself is a good enough reason to both read and review anyone's book. Second, Paul has a lot of intriguing thoughts and ideas on the world of the paranormal, and I knew that, on reading the book, those same thoughts and ideas would flow out in fine form. And they do.

The Other Side of Truth is very much a personal odyssey that sees the Earl of Nova Scotia (that's Paul, by the way) traveling the globe (quite literally) in search of the answers to numerous mysteries, including UFOs, ghosts, life-after-death, synchronicities, time-travel, the meaning of existence, the nature of reality, and much more.

In other words, this is a first-person road-trip of definitive supernatural proportions.

But it's far more than that, too.

TOSoT is also the deeply personal story of one man's immersion in a strange world, of his realization that there are mysteries to be found and solved, and of his ultimate conclusion that life is very much a learning process - a journey to be experienced and embraced, both in the "normal" sense and in relation to the realms and worlds beyond our own.

And Paul skilfully (and time and time again) demonstrates something in the pages of his book that many people who have dug deep into paranormal phenomena have experienced: namely, that when you go looking for the unexplained, the unexplained sits up and takes notice of you.

That's to say the investigator very often goes from being a detached observer to a key and integral player, one who experiences a distinct sense and escalating suspicion that there are higher forces out there guiding and manipulating their actions, ensuring they are in the right place at the right time, and also acting as teacher as the learning process progresses. Hence the fascinating data that Paul includes in the book on countless synchronicities that he experienced during the course of important investigations and experiences in his daily life.

But this is no normal learning/teaching process. I always find it kind of amusing that both ufological skeptics and believers often ask the question: "Why don't the aliens land on the White House lawn?"

Well, first, that suggests "they" (whatever "they" may be) have a bias towards one country over another, which would seem - to me, anyway - to be pretty illogical for a non-human species.

Second, the question says less about Fortean forces out there and how they might operate, and far more about how we, as a species, might contact the people of other worlds. So, we assume - probably wrongly and certainly arrogantly - that they would do something broadly the same as us.

And third, it implies these intelligences are just like us, albeit more technologically advanced. Nothing could be further from the reality of the situation.

As The Other Side of Truth reveals, what appears to be genuine alien contact (and "alien" is intended here to mean a definitive "other" - perhaps extraterrestrial or maybe something even stranger) takes some undeniably alternative and even bizarre routes as it seeks to provide the clues and answers to those that go looking for them. And I mean really alternative and really bizarre routes.

If there's one thing - maybe more than any other - that I've found when it comes to investigating Fortean phenomena, it's the sheer, astonishing extent to which those same phenomena interact with us on an incredibly one-to-one basis when we seek them out. And Paul's book typifies this.

But, the lessons we are taught, as Paul shows, are not dished up on a plate in easy to digest fashion. Rather, we are given snippets of data, and we are encouraged to seek the answers, to understand them, to learn from them, and to grow. Or not. The choice is ours.

TOSoT makes it abundantly clear to me that we are being offered incredible gifts by something, but if we choose not to take them, the loss is ours, and the phenomena then move onto the next person that ponders and wonders, and the next, and so on and so forth.

Paul is one of those that has chosen to accept those gifts, opportunities and insights into the bigger world around us - even if he doesn't have all the answers, or a complete picture of who or what it is that offers us those same gifts, opportunities and insights, or a full understanding of where this journey of life is leading.

But he realizes that something very extraordinary is afoot and goes after it, and recognizes when it impacts on his life, such as in those sections of the book that deal with the importance of those aforementioned synchronicities in critical, potentially life-altering events that can push us down varying pathways, depending on how we choose to respond.

So, what we have with The Other Side of Truth is one man's long and winding, personal transformation and his journey into a world populated by some form of intelligence that knows us far better than we know ourselves and from which we can learn a great deal - if, when it enters our lives, we choose to do so.

Paul has looked for those answers, he wants those answers, and he's found some of them. And in doing so, he has lived and learned. You can do that, too. And reading The Other Side of Truth is a great place to start.

Posthuman Blues: In Print

This is excellent news:

Redstar Books, the new venture from Paul Kimball (a.k.a. the Squire of Halifax), has just published the first volume of Posthuman Blues, a collection of the writings of the late Mac Tonnies.

Since this particular volume just covers 2003-2004, there will, of course, be more to come in this series, thus ensuring that Mac's work, life and legacy will live on.

You can find all about the book, and how to purchase copies, right here...

The Other Side Of Truth

Paul Kimball shares with us the cover of his forthcoming book, which looks to be a good, thought-provoking study of paranormal phenomena, The Other Side Of Truth!
