A "Hangar 18" for Monsters?
There's a new Mysterious Universe article from me that starts like this...
"There can be very few people (if any!) with an interest in UFOs who have not heard of the tales of so-called 'alien bodies in the morgue.' Area 51, “Hangar 18,” Homestead Air Force Base, the Dugway Proving Ground, and many more highly secret, fortified installations have all been suggested as the final resting places for the preserved corpses of extraterrestrial entities. But, what of so-called cryptids, such as Bigfoot, the Loch Ness Monster, the Abominable Snowman, the Chupacabras and other mysterious, or unacknowledged, creatures?
"Although they are far less known than those involving their alleged alien counterparts, there are a number of cases on file that suggest it’s not just the bodies of beings from beyond our solar system that are held deep below ground, in well-guarded, bunker-style facilities. Welcome to the controversial saga of the morgue of monsters."

The Origins of a Monster
"Many people have heard of the legendary Abominable Snowman or Yeti. It’s the Himalayan equivalent of the United States’ famous Bigfoot. But not so many, perhaps, know of the origins of the beastly man-monster of the snowy peaks. It’s a reportedly diabolical denizen of the huge Himalayas - a mountain range in Nepal, Tibet that is home to the 29,000-foot-high Mt. Everest. The Yeti is perceived, for all intents and purposes and depending on whom you care to ask, as a giant ape of an unclassified nature, or a surviving example of Gigantopithecus, a huge, gorilla-like animal long thought to be extinct. Others, of a far more skeptical mind, might very well say it’s merely a mixture of hoaxing, folklore, misidentification, and mythology."
That's how I begin my new Lair of the Beasts article for Mania.com on the origins of the Yeti...

Monster Files - Coming May
So, what do I have going on in this new year, 2013?
Well, one project is Monster Files: A Look Inside Government Secrets and Classified Documents on Bizarre Creatures and Extraordinary Animals, which will be published by New Page Books in May.
And here's the publisher's blurb on the book:
- Does the Pentagon have the body of Bigfoot on ice?
- What is the U.S. military hiding from us about lake monsters?
- What is the link between the CIA and the Abominable Snowman?
- Why is there a British government file on sea serpents?
- What do the Russians know about animal ESP?
Bigfoot, the Loch Ness Monster, sea serpents, psychic pets, the Chupacabras, and the Abominable Snowman have all attracted official, classified interest.
Now, for the first time, the full, fearsome facts are finally revealed in Nick Redfern’s Monster Files. You’ll discover all the amazing cryptozoological truths, conspiracies, and cover-ups behind the secret studies by the Pentagon, the Kremlin, and the British military, among many others.
Despite what your parents might have told you when you were a child, monsters, creepy creatures, and terrifying beasts really do exist. And our governments know all about them.
