A Conference and the MIB

Got back home on Monday night from the Philadelphia-based conference of the Pennsylvania chapter of MUFON, which was an excellent gig, thanks to organizer John Ventre and the team.

Here's a few shots (below) from the event: Fred Saluga (who spoke on the Cryptozoology-UFO connection); John Ventre and author Anthony Sanchez deep in discussion, some of the PA MUFON team, and me hanging out with Travis Fire in the Sky Walton.

And here's a new Mysterious Universe article from me (on the MIB), which focuses around my lecture at the MUFON gig.

  3. Hello Nick,

I'm a freelancer interested in beginning investigating certain European Intelligence organisations and activities- more form a political than a fortean angle- and I was hoping you could remind about something you spoke of once, I think in an interview on the MIB.

The details are a little hazy in my memory, but as far I can recall, you were due to speak with a former military official in the UK who had some knowledge of a UFO incident many years previously. You said that after speaking to him on the phone he was called by some intelligence agency who warned him not to say anything further, and the interview didn't happen.

Are you able to clarify or point me to any information you had on this incident, particularly the agency the gentleman in question said was involved?

    Regards,

    Ben (benjamin@dukemedia.co.uk)

  5. Hey Ben, I think you may be thinking of a man named Harold South, who said he had come across (in March 1964) a military cordon on England's Cannock Chase woods and saw a strange looking craft on the ground. I went along to interview him with Irene Bott of the Staffordshire UFO Group in December 1996 and in between us calling to say we were on our way and getting there, he had a weird intimidating call that we were able to trace back to a military base in the UK. The account is in my book, "On the Trail of the Saucer Spies." Is that the case you were thinking of?

  6. Hi Nick,

thanks for getting back to me. That sounds very much like it. I went back through some old documentaries and you mentioned it on a programme about claimed The Aztec UFO crash.

Thanks for the reference. I shall have to get hold of a copy of the book.

    -Ben
