The Two Types of Men in Black: One Human and One Non-Human

Over at Rich Reynolds' blog - UFO Conjectures - you can find a new article from me. It is focused on the two different kinds of Men in Black that people report.

There are those MIB who look like agents of government, and there are those who are pale-faced, cadaverous creatures that don't even look fully human. But, both of them dress in similar - if not identical - clothing.

Why and how do we have more than one type of MIB? You can find the answer at this link.

Nightmares, Dreams and Unwanted Visitors

Today's article is on the subject of what can happen when "something" invades your nightmares.

Here are the opening paragraphs:

"If you want weird, you’ve got it. It didn’t get much more bizarre than Saturday morning, October 14, 2017. The night before, I gave a lecture in Fort Worth, Texas for a local group called Satori. It was a good turn-out and among those who turned up was good friend, Kimberly Rackley, who has had her very own run-ins with the Men in Black. During the lecture, I made mention of how certain supernatural things can invade our dreams – and, in the process, turn those same dreams into absolute, mind-warping nightmares. I guess someone – or something – was tuning in, as the following morning I received at Facebook Message a  strange tale of – wait for it – Men in Black and Women in Black who had invaded the dreams of the victims. No, I do not jest.

"The story came from a guy in Florida, and who I had spoken with some time earlier. In my 2016 book, Women in Black, I told the very strange story of 'A Hesitant Believer,' who had a chilling encounter with both a MIB and a WIB a few years earlier. It was a hostility-filled encounter, in which the clearly non-human pair in black put a hex on poor 'AHB,' one which left him extremely ill for a while. On this date in 2017, though, he wanted to tell me of a follow-up encounter, which was no less strange or unsettling."

A Strange Dream and a Weird Man in Black

That's the subject of a new article from me, which you can find at this link, and that starts as follows:

"Today, I’m on a bit of a 'weird dream' kick. By that, I mean there will be another dream-based article after this one. John Winterbauer is a friend of mine who I run into about once a year or so at conferences. At 8:43 a.m. on November 21, 2015 John sent me a text – while clearly in a state of some concern – that revolved around the story of a woman named Terry, who I interviewed a few years back. Her MIB-themed encounter makes for chilling reading. In part, Terry had told me: 'This encounter occurred during the day time thirty five years ago in 1977 at a Winchell’s in Sunnyvale California, I was just sixteen years of age at the time. My best friend and I had just finished our coffee and were heading for the doorway to leave. As we were passing a man seated at one of the tables, he reached out and firmly grabbed my wrist. In that moment my first reaction was to jerk away from his grip, but looking down at him I realized that he was a very old man and I felt in that moment that he was harmless. He was dressed in black wearing an old fashioned hat and suit, his clothing looked like it was from the 1930’s. He was extremely pale, very thin and appeared to be very old, I guessed in his 80’s or 90’s.'

M.I.B. TV...

For those who may want to watch, I'll be on Monsters and Mysteries in America, which will broadcast at 3PM tomorrow afternoon, central time, on the Travel Channel. The subject is the real Men in Black. It was originally broadcasted a couple of years ago, but is now getting a rerun, as are most of all the other episodes...

Robert Goerman Reviews "The Alien Book"

A great new review from Robert Goerman of my new book, The Alien Book.

The Alien Book: A Guide To Extraterrestrial Beings On Earth
by Nick Redfern
Paperback: 400 pages
Publisher: Visible Ink Press (September 1, 2019)
Review by Robert A. Goerman

Visible Ink Press caters a feast for the mind with The Alien Book: A Guide To Extraterrestrial Beings On Earth by Nick Redfern. Forty-four delicacies are alphabetically presented over the course of four hundred pages. Many entrees are plated beautifully with illustrations. Connoisseurs will appreciate the rich bibliographical references and index. Trust our colleagues at Visible Ink Press to deliver a banquet for the price of a good meal.
The beings, creatures, mysteries, et cetera in this book are indeed alien to the norm of our everyday lives and spatiotemporal reality. Whether they are actually extraterrestrial, that is, originating from some other physical world in our universe, will be a matter of conjecture and debate. Whatever they are, they are here. They are not going away today. Tomorrow doesn't look good either.
Every single entree is seasoned with Redfern's secret blend of horrifying herbs and sinister spices.
Do human crop circle makers attune to a higher intelligence? Sacred geometry and intent are two things that a magician or cabalist needs to create magic. Are these metaphysical artists working with large emblems on a living canvas to rediscover the ancient art of natural magic? Does this automatic drawing summon paranormal forces? Matthew Williams is convinced.
We completely agree with Nick Redfern that Men (and Women) in Black “are clearly not residents of our world.” We also agree with researcher Steve Ash when he wonders if these UFO Silencers with their alleged agenda to scare people away from the subject often have the opposite effect. Maybe the MiB mission is to purposefully highlight and “advertise” high strangeness. Are MiB the “teaser trailers” of the paranormal realm?
We ask ourselves if these MiB and WiB understand their own actions. Are the Men in Black at the mercy of something else? They can appear after a “sighting” or Active Paranormal Event before the witness has told anyone. They relate details known only to the witness. MiB manifestations can appear out of nowhere and vanish in plain sight as if they are inserted and extracted geographically and chronologically into and out of our reality.
Men in Black show signs of interacting with humans on both a physical and psychic level. The consciousness of the witness can be altered and manipulated during the encounter. Meeting the witness in person seems to be their primary goal and conversation appears to be of secondary importance. Maybe the intelligences behind the MiB manifestations are curious as to how lower lifeforms imprisoned by linear time exercise “free will” and make “choices.”
The variety of paranormal phenomena examined in this book is impressive. Redfern writes that “aliens come in all sizes, shapes, and colors. Some are friendly. Others are anything but friendly. They all have one thing in common: the human race has encountered them.”
Chasing UFOs and cryptids with nuts-and-bolts and flesh-and-blood mindsets might be a matter of “barking up the wrong tree.” Yet other researchers take these stands to appear more “scientific.”
While all forty-four entrees are delicious, we did find an occasional forkful that left us feeling frustrated. Redfern refers to Mothman's “glowing, self-illuminating red eyes.” This is certainly not his fault. Our basic knowledge of West Virginia's "Mothman" begins as flawed folklore thanks to author John Keel. The original eyewitness accounts state that the creature has “fiery-red eyes that glow when the lights hit it. There was no glowing about it until the lights hit it” (from Linda Scarberry's handwritten report made a few days after the encounter). “The young men said they saw the creature’s eyes, which glowed red, only when their lights shined on it” (from the Point Pleasant Register, Wednesday, November 16, 1966). Mothman today has evolved into weapons-grade “balonium.”
One thing is certain. Now is the best time to discover Nick Redfern.

The Black Diary - Coming on June 5...

Coming on June 5, my new book, The Black Diary: M.I.B., Women in Black, Black-Eyed Children, and Dangerous Books. When the book appears on Amazon, I'll post the info here.

From the publisher, Lisa Hagan Books:

  • “His skin was strange”
  • “She had total black eyes”
  • “You could almost taste the menace”
  • “The impulse to burn the book is mighty interesting”

Nick Redfern reveals the very latest information on the sinister Men in Black, the chilling Women in Black, and the creepy Black-Eyed Children. Highlights include: dozens of never-before-seen stories of encounters with these creatures; Nick’s own sighting of an MIB; the ability of these multi-dimensional entities to invade our space in hostile fashion; and how and why writing, reading
and even thinking about them can be hazardous.

Nick Redfern is the author of more than forty books. They include Men in Black; Women in Black; The Roswell UFO Conspiracy; and 365 Days of UFOs. Nick has appeared on many TV shows, including the BBC’s Out of This World; the SyFy Channel’s Proof Positive; the History Channel’s Monster Quest, America’s Book of Secrets and UFO Hunters; the National Geographic Channel’s Paranatural; and MSNBC’s Countdown. Men In Black - 20 Years Later

In a new article at Mysterious Universe, I highlight (A) the looming 20th anniversary of the release of the movie Men in Black; and (B) the differences between the Hollywood MIB and the real ones...

You can find the article here, and below is an extract:

July 2 of this year will mark the 20th anniversary of the release of the movie Men in Black, which starred Will Smith, Tommy Lee Jones, Linda Fiorentino, and Rip Torn. It was an incredibly successful movie that pulled in close to $600 Million in box-office takings. Men in Black II surfaced in 2002 and made a more than respectable profit, and the third movie in the series – Men in Black 3 – did even better, with box-office figures reaching more than $620 Million. Based on Lowell Cunningham’s comic book series, Men in Black, the movies most definitely brought the MIB of UFO lore to the attention of millions of people – and all around the world. The movies did something else, too: they cemented in the minds of most people the image that the MIB are the operatives of a highly secret agency which is buried deep within the heart of the U.S. Government. The reality, however, is very different.

Of course, the three Men in Black movies are meant purely as entertainment for the whole family – which they certainly are. But, when it comes to the real Men in Black, matters are much darker. In fact, way darker. And, I’m not talking about the color of the suits. It’s ironic that the movies portrayed the Men in Black as what we might term “ufological 007’s,” as the “secret agent” angle is actually the most unlikely explanation for the MIB.

The Paranormal: Facts, Evidence & Proof

There's a new article from me at Mysterious Universe that begins as follows:

"On the weekend of April 29-30 I spoke at the annual Kent Paranormal Weekend in Ohio. My subject: the history of the Men in Black. When all the lectures were over, there was a lively question-and-answer session. It was overseen by Jim Harold, of the Paranormal Podcast. During the course of the Q&A, the issues of what amount to facts, evidence and proof in the field of “the unknown” – such as Cryptozoology, Ufology, and ghost-hunting – surfaced. What facts and proof do we have? Is there any real, hard evidence? They were interesting questions which provoked equally interesting answers. I thought I would expand on my own observations (addressed at the gig) on this issue here at Mysterious Universe.

"If there is one thing that can be said with certainty – on matters relative to the paranormal – it’s that definitive facts and undeniable evidence are most assuredly lacking. We’ll start with those aforementioned MIB. Since my first book on the issue (On the Trail of the Saucer Spies) was published back in 2006, I have received hundreds of reports of encounters with MIB – mainly spanning the last few decades, but some significantly older. I’m as sure as I can be that the vast majority of those who have contacted me are honest, truthful people who just want to share their stories, or who are hoping to get answers regarding their encounters."

Men In Black - Worldwide

Over at Mysterious Universe I have a new article on the worldwide nature of the Men in Black. Here's the link, and here's how the article starts:

Brent Swancer’s recent feature on Men in Black in Japan has prompted me to write an article showing that the creepy and strange MIB are seen just about here, there and everywhere. In 2005, I spent a week or thereabouts in Puerto Rico. I was there with Paul Kimball’s Redstar Films crew. The subject of the shoot: the Chupacabra. While we were there, we met a number of interesting witnesses, including one guy who had encountered not just a Man in Black, but a Woman in Black too.

Late one night, some years earlier, he jumped out of bed to the screams of his pigs – he was a breeder and seller of the animals. And, given that this was his only source of income, he raced to the back-door, grabbed a handy machete and a flashlight, flung the door open, and charged out into the muggy darkness. The scene was one of carnage. The bodies of a number of dead, blood-splattered rabbits – which the farmer also kept – were strewn about the yard, many torn to pieces. And one of his prize-pigs was dead, too, lying on the ground.

Hanging Out At The M.I.B. Grave...

Hanging out at the M.I.B. grave a couple of weeks ago...

For those who may be wondering it's actually nothing to do with the Men in Black! It's a gravestone for Marvin Ivan Barrow, brother of Clyde Barrow (as in Bonnie and Clyde), who is buried not far from where I live...

California, MIB and WIB

Here are a few photos from my trip earlier this week to California, to speak for the MUFON Orange County group and for the Los Angeles UFO and Paranormal Society. The subject: the MIB and the Women in Black.

A good time was had!

Got to hang out with good mate Greg Bishop (author of Project Beta and It Defies Language), as well as with a few other friends in Ufology.
