The Zombie Book...

ALERT!! WARNING!! LOCK THE DOORS!!

There's a zombie outbreak here in Arlington, Texas!

Well...kind of...

Copies of my new book The Zombie Book: The Encyclopedia of the Living Dead (co-written with Brad Steiger) have just arrived.

It's an A-Z style book that covers the "Z word" in TV, movies, novels, history, folklore, mythology, voodoo, viruses, and even zombie-themed government conspiracies.

And at nearly 400 pages, it also makes a good, heavy weapon for whacking the brains out of the invading undead...

The Zombie Book...

Although the official release date is not until September, it's already available as of this week at Amazon and Barnes & Noble. 450 pages on walking, running, infected and biting corpses: The Zombie Book: The Encyclopedia of the Living Dead, which is a co-written book from me and Brad Steiger.

And here's the background on the book, from the publisher, Visible Ink Press:

"Rampaging, driven, killing machines. Soulless and dead. Infected and infectious. Zombies. The epidemic of the living dead is stronger than ever in today’s pop-culture, but long before exotic viruses, biological warfare, and sinister military experiments brought the dead back to life in our cinemas and on our television screens, there were the dark spells and incantations of the ancient Egyptians, the Sumerians, and the Babylonians. Blending the historical with the modern, the biographical with the literary, the plants and animals with bacteria and viruses, the mythological with the horrifying true tales, The Zombie Book: The Encyclopedia of the Living Dead is a comprehensive resource to understanding, combating, and avoiding zombies.

"More than 250 entries cover everything from hit television shows, books, and movies, including The Walking Dead, World War Z and Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, to zombies’ ignominious role in folklore and mythology, such as the Greek god Asclepius, ancient Voodoo religion, and the Native American Wendigo legend. The Zombie Book: The Encyclopedia of the Living Dead examines mad cow disease, the Spanish flu pandemic of 1918, the Centers for Disease Control preparing for the end of the world, and much, much more."

Mysterious Universe - 1

Well, there are 2 new Mysterious Universe articles from me today. Or, rather, one is an article and the other is a review.

As for the latter, it's a review of the new book from Brad Steiger and his wife, Sherry Hansen Steiger. Its title: Real Encounters, Different Dimensions, and Otherworldly Beings.

It begins...

"As you’ll know, every so often I’ll review here, at Mysterious Universe, a new book. And it’s that time again. Today, it’s Real Encounters, Different Dimensions, and Otherworldly Beings by Brad Steiger and his wife, Sherry Hansen Steiger. Neither Brad nor Sherry need introductions. But they are going to get them anyway!

"Brad has now penned somewhere close to 200 books, on all manner of paranormal topics, including UFOs, life after death, and zombies. Sherry has authored/co-authored more than 40 books, including the best-selling Miracles series. And, I’m pleased to say, that even with so many titles under their belts, the dynamic duo continue to put out quality material."

The Zombie Book: Coming in September

Coming in September is a new book from me and Brad Steiger. Its title: The Zombie Book. The publisher: Visible Ink Press. And here's VIP's book-description:

"Rampaging, driven, killing machines. Soulless and dead. Infected and infectious. Zombies. Brad Steiger Reviews Monster Diary

"Nick Redfern has produced another excellent title that we will all wish to add to our Redfern Library of Monsters, Weird Creatures, and Perplexing Paths of the Paranormal. In Monster Diary Redfern takes to the road to search out 'strange and sinister creatures,' and the literary style of diary entries serves the subject matter very well.

"I always enjoy reading his take on some of the classic monsters which have haunted the British countryside for centuries. What he adds to his usual reportage of monsters of the moors is a theory that some of these entities may well be spectral memories and ghostly projections. To me, this theory makes a great deal of sense. I have always wondered just where the Brits got the notion that black panthers were terrorizing their roadways when no panthers have ever existed in Great Britain in known history. Psychic projections do make for better explanations.

"Redfern expands this thoughtful theory to extend to Bigfoot and other such creatures. Perhaps the paranormal will not be welcome in this territory by those who faithfully search the woods for signs and proofs of Old Daddy Bigfoot's actual, physical reality. After suggesting a paranormal explanation for a good many Bigfoot sightings, Redfern contends that some of those witnesses who have reported encountering Mammoths, Loch Ness-type water beasts, and saber-toothed tigers may have actually seen ghosts of these prehistoric beasts. And why not? In our Miracle series, my wife Sherry and I have recounted dozens of our correspondents' sightings of the ghostly forms of their beloved dog or cat. The mysteries of life and death may be even more mysterious than we have supposed.

"As a major Redfern fan, I definitely recommend this book as one of his best."

Real Ghosts - An Excellent Read!

Looking for some good reading material tonight, the spookiest night of the year? Well, look no further!

The second edition of Brad Steiger's Real Ghosts, Restless Spirits, and Haunted Places is now available thanks to the good folks at Visible Ink Press.

Running at almost 700 pages and at a very reasonable price, this is a title that fans of specters, paranormal entities, ghosts, ghouls and much more of a supernatural nature will definitely not want to miss.

You might think that close to 700 pages of tale after tale of the ghostly kind would get very repetitive and boring after a while, but - I'm pleased to say - you would be wrong. Very wrong, in fact.

What Brad has done with Real Ghosts is to provide us with a wealth of suspense-soaked and captivating tales (best devoured by flickering candlelight, of course) that cover just about every aspect of the realm of ghosts - such as haunted locations (cemeteries, castles, houses, and old mansions), spirits of the animal variety (many of a very uplifting nature, suggesting that our furry and hairy friends experience some form of afterlife), spooks that enjoy taking road-trips (whether on ships, aircraft or trains), curious bedroom invaders, the walking dead that have a particular liking for pubs and hotels (not a bad afterlife, I'd say...), and famous ghosts of the big-screen (you'll have to read the book to find out who!).

But that's not all: Brad the Bard also delves deep into some truly sinister and malevolent puzzles of the ghostly variety, such as violent poltergeist activity, as well as undeniably hostile, parasitic entities that both torment and possess those terrified souls that cross their paranormal paths.

Of course, even with all this wealth of varied data, there's always a danger that the mind can become numbed to the core by tale after tale, particularly so if the story-teller does so in tame, bland fashion.

Fortunately, there's nothing tame or bland about Brad's writing, or about Real Ghosts. Penned with great atmosphere, a chillingly cool style that keeps the reader captivated from page to page, and a deep knowledge of the phenomena under the microscope, Brad's book is filled with entertaining menace, creeping creepiness, and tale after tale of bone-chilling proportions.

Great to read late at night while stretched out on the couch, around a camp-fire in the woods with your friends, or (if you're lucky enough to have one!) within the depths of a darkened, old dungeon.

Real Ghosts: a superb trek through the entire domain of the restless dead...

Brad Steiger and Werewolves

In the latest (September) edition of Fortean Times magazine, Brad Steiger's The Werewolf Book gets an excellent review.

In part, it says:

"This is a very professional encyclopredia from one of the field's masters, covering all things shapeshiftery and not just 'men who are hairy on the inside' (as Angela Lansbury’s Granny’ put it in The Company of Wolves). Steiger draws on material ranging from ancient lore to modern TV and films (and even computer games) reworking classic motifs. This companion volume to the same publisher’s Vampire Book offers over 250 entries and makes a handy and entertaining reference."

Brad and Sherry Steiger have a brand new iPhone app that you can download - for free - that covers just about every conspiracy under the sun! So, if apps and cover-ups are your thing, here's all the info:

Brad and Sherry Steiger's The Breaking Cases app:

Welcome to The Breaking Cases app where you work with conspiracy researchers Brad Steiger and Sherry Steiger to bring to light the latest threats and uncover the newest attacks on our liberties and, maybe, help quash them before they have a chance to grow.

Startling allegations. Suppressed evidence. Missing witnesses. Assassinations. Cover-ups and threats. Documented connections to even deeper intrigue. Allusions to the New World Order. Coincidences? too many to be mere coincidence? American history is replete with warnings of hidden plots by the Illuminati, the Freemasons, the Zionists, the Roman Catholics, the Communists, World Bankers, the Secret Government, and Extra-Terrestrial Invaders, to name a few.

Under the Breaking Cases tab, this App allows you to break conspiracies as they are hatched and expose new groups as they are formed. Share your comments with conspiracy researchers Brad and Sherry Steiger. Tell them what you know on the latest threats and help uncover the newest attacks on our liberties before they have a chance to grow. Simply leave your comments on a growing list of topics or start a new investigation by submitting your Breaking Case to Brad and Sherry Steiger. Remember to let Brad and Sherry know where you learned about the conspiracy or secret society--an article in the newspaper, a website, a magazine, etc. The only way to crush these secret plots is to bring the facts to light!

Under the Conspiracies tab and under the Secret Societies tab, this App provides a thorough examination of historical topics to more current issues that you can unlock, including:

* Historical riddles—the Ark of the Covenant, the Holy Grail, Noah’s Ark, the Sphinx, alchemy, the true relationship between Jesus and Mary Magdalene, and the churches dedicated to the Black Madonna.

Real Aliens at You Tube

And still on the subject of Brad Steiger, he emailed me a couple of days ago: "Visible Ink Press has released our new video to promote Real Aliens, Space Beings, and Creatures from Other Worlds." And here it is...

Cannibals, Zombies, Wendigos

There's a new article from Lee Speigel over at the Huffington Post that addresses those recent weird attacks on people of a cannibal and quasi-zombie nature.

Notably, Brad Steiger's work is cited, and which suggests a potential link with the Wendigo phenomenon. Check it out!

Conspiracies and Secret Societies

Just recently I received in the mail a review copy of the new book from Brad and Sherry Steiger - without doubt the most prolific duo in the entire history of Forteana!

In fact, so incredibly prolific are Brad and Sherry, I sometimes wonder if they are actually human, or if they might really be shape-shifting entities from some strange and unearthly realm, cunningly disguised as members of the Human Race to allow them to move and work among us.

Indeed, Brad and Sherry don't just write books now and again, or as the mood takes them. Rather, they unleash them upon us just about as regularly as the rest of us change the TV channels!

In other words, they are a veritable and collective book-factory! No human, surely, is capable of such astonishing actions.

Frankly, I think it's all a conspiracy - which, given the subject matter of their new book, is very appropriate!

The good thing about the collective works of Mr and Mrs S is that quantity does not overshadow - or replace - quality. In fact, it's because of the quality of the book that I'm reviewing their latest release right now. Its title? Conspiracies and Secret Societies: The Complete Dossier (Second Edition).

If conspiracies, cover-ups and high-level secrets are your thing, then this new title is one you won't want to miss - at all.

Running in at almost a whopping 600-pages, it's packed with data on all sorts of suspicious cover-ups of a wide range and variety that encompass Forteana, politics, history, science and much, much more.

Plus, the style of the book is very easy on the eye. With the entries written in A-Z style, you can check out the Contents and Index and dip into whichever sections catch your eye at any given moment. And there's plenty of those sections to choose from, too!

When it comes to UFOs and Forteana, you'll find much on Roswell, alien abductions, the Men in Black, crop circles, the Montauk controversy, Remote-Viewing, underground alien bases, and much more.

In terms of ancient mysteries, entries on Noah's Ark, the Pyramids of Egypt, Atlantis, the Ark of the Covenant, and the Shroud of Turin get pride of place.

Suspicious deaths feature heavily, too, including those of a mountain of scientists, Princess Diana, JFK and Vincent Foster.

For fans of the weirder side of conspiracy theorizing, cattle-mutilations, black-helicopters, the Philadelphia Experiment, and HAARP all come into the mix.

Then there are those historical - and sometimes outrageous and dark - conspiracies relative to such controversies as Japan's Unit 731, and the Catholic Church abuse scandal.

Finally, we are exposed to the downright disturbing and sinister theories relative to possible plans to reduce the size of the human population, biochip implants, the weird wave of bird and fish deaths of late 2010 and early 2011, West Nile Virus, and the New World Order.

And, coupled with an extensive number of good illustrations, Brad and Sherry Steiger's Conspiracies and Secret Societies is an excellent addition to the field of conspiracy research, and one that will be ideal reading for either the long term student of such matters, or someone new to it all and wondering what is really going on in our world - and maybe even beyond it, too.

Long may the Steiger's (hard-working humans or super-fast keyboard users from the stars) continue to do what they do!
