RPJ and the Chupacabras

Fortean friend Red Pill Junkie has a great new article at Intrepid Mag that digs into one of his particular fascinations: the Puerto Rican Chupacabras.

It starts like this...

"Although UFOlogy will always be my 1st & foremost paranormal passion I consider myself a true Fortean, since all manner of things that go bump in the night fascinate me. Ever since the day I found a copy of Tim Dinsdale’s book Loch Ness Monster, back when I was a little mask-less luchador, I began a deep interest in the field of Cryptozoology; Nessie, Bigfoot, Champ & Mokele Mbembe, I still have a deep love for this menagerie of monsters.

"…All but for one exception: The infamous Chupacabras. I just can’t stand that thirsty son of a bitch, for reasons I’m about to explain…"

And here's RPJ's complete article, which is as entertaining as it is fascinating!

RPJ on the Paradigm Gig

In a new post over at the Intrepid Mag blog, Red Pill Junkie focuses on this past weekend's Paradigm Symposium gig that I spoke at and which RPJ attended. And not having met RPJ in person before, it was great to finally hang out!

RPJ starts his new post like this:

"Paradigm Symposium came, went on and ended. Yet the true Paradigm goes on still.

"As I find myself trying to return to the normal pace of my daily routines, I also realize that the true impact my trip to Minneapolis had on my personal life, will take a long time to set in.

"Picture a man lost in the middle of the desert, with no compass or supplies to aid him, desperately wandering around all alone at the mercy of the cruel sun and the treacherous sandstorms. And now imagine that poorstranded man as he’s about to lose hope and give up, suddenly stumbling upon a luscious oasis out of the pages of Arabian nights, full of friendly palm trees offering their shades that he may rest, and with a spring of cool clear water that will help him calm his terrible thirst. Imagine the taste of that first drink, after so many days of having a dry mouth and cracked lips.

"That was Paradigm Symposium for me."

But, that's not all RPJ has to say. There's much more, and all of it very intriguing...

Back!

On checking email this morning I got one from two days ago that read: "Have you been abducted?"

Well, no, I haven't! I've been offline since last Wednesday, as I was speaking at the Paradigm gig in Minneapolis, which was an excellent event.

There was a great turn out of several hundred, and organizers Micah Hanks and Scotty Roberts (and not forgetting their team of helpers) did a first-class job of putting on the event.

And, for me, as well as listening to a wealth of good presentations (David Weatherly's lecture on the "Black-Eyed Children" phenomenon was, as far as I'm concerned, the highlight), it was time to catch up with old friends and finally meet other friends who I hadn't previously had chance to hang out with, such as Ben and Aaron from Mysterious Universe, Marie Jones, Red Pill Junkie, and Michael and Laurie Pye from New Page Books.

Good news: they're already planning next year's gig. So, if you missed this one, don't miss the next!

RPJ and UFOs

Red Pill Junkie has a good new post up at the Intrepid Mag blog that begins like this:

"For those of us who decide to take the narrow and offbeat Fortean path, there always comes a moment when we encounter significant milestones in our journey; milestones which we can perceive as what they really are –big forks in the road– only in retrospect.

"Most of us experience the fork in the shape of a book found in the public library or local bookstore, a movie in the Sunday matinee, an influential mentor, and there are even a few privileged enough to meet the Unknown face to face. In my case, one of my biggest milestones was a dog-eared paperback edition of a book, whose suggestive title attracted me like nectar attracts the bee: UFOs & Mexico’s Archeology."

And here's the complete post....

Red Pill Junkie Insights

Over at the blog of Intrepid magazine, Red Pill Junkie has a new post that I urge one and all to read. It starts with the words below and takes us down some very winding and strange pathways - as it should!

"When you spend enough time in the Fortean realm, you start to amass a great deal of information allegedly transmitted by a varied cornucopia of other-worldly sources: channeled material, psychic dreams, close encounters of the 3rd or 4rd kind, medium séances, Ouija board sessions, and a long etcetera. Determining the validity of this information can be as taxing as finding reliable data on the Internet —in fact even more so.

"I don’t ascribe nor endorse the easy routes when it comes to these mysteries. Both the skeptical dismissal of ‘transmitted’ material as either hoaxes or mental delusions, as well as the uncritical acceptance of the cult-like groups that tend to gather around the ‘transmitters’ equally upset me."

Sex and Mysticism Pt. 2

Last week, I posted here a link to an insightful new article at Intrepid Magazine from good friend Red Pill Junkie on the sexual components of Fortean encounters. And as RPJ noted, there are far more than a few of them!

Well, now RPJ is back with Part 2 of his study, which you can find right here and which again demonstrates and reinforces the fact that even though it's an area that many researchers avoid, probably because of having prudish upbringings and repressed lives (that bit of bait should provoke a few comments, hopefully), there is an undeniable link between paranormal phenomena and sexual energy.

I will refrain from making any juvenile comments about the article being particularly titillating...

Sex and Mysticism

Red Pill Junkie regularly posts comments here and he also writes for Intrepid mag. His latest post for them - Eros & Ufos: The Repressed Sexual Aspect of Mystical Experiences (Part 1) - kicks off as follows:

"UFO polls have been all the rage lately, and not just in the US. Last month a local Panamanian newspaper published the results of a survey conducted among 1200 people between June 7th & 20th, and some of the results they obtained were far more interesting –and provocative!– than the ones reported by Nat Geo.

"Of the 6% who claimed to have witnessed a unidentified flying object, 37% also reported an increase in their sexual appetite immediately after the sighting. There were other results obtained by the poll, but as you can probably imagine it was this particular figure the thing caught the attention of the Latin American media, which proceeded to treat it with the customary level of seriousness they felt the topic deserved –EXTRA! UFOS ARE THE BEST APHRODISIAC.

"Those of us who have dared to study the UFO field however, are able to go beyond the giggle factor. For we know that as much as some try to repress it, the truth is there’s an undeniable relationship between the human libido and the Fortean world."

And here's the full article, which I definitely recommend, as it's an aspect of Forteana that far too many steer away from.

My Cover Gets Blown

Well, over at the Intrepid Magazine blog, Red Pill Junkie finally blows my cover, and the secret is out! But which theory is the truth...?
